VALLEY OF FIRE California

The stunning rock formations of The Valley of Fire are located about a 60 minute drive from the USA’s famous gambling city of Las Vegas. The impressive rock formations of the Valley of Fire are the geological monuments of time immemorial, its deep canyons and caves far removed from civilization. Here, isolation reigns supreme, including silence and an infinity of calm. This is a realm of fantasy where it’s possible to see countless fascinating images in the rock as the imagination runs riot and creates something new with each blink of the eye. The rocks are often between 100 and 200 metres high and during summer time, the unyielding temperature reaches between 50° – 60° Celsius (122º F – 140º F). Over the centuries, various rodents and reptiles have conquered this landscape including iguanas, lizards, rabbits as well as rattlesnakes, foxes, the roadrunner and the desert turtle. The fiery colors of the artistically weathered stone sculptures, rock domes and bridges continuously burn into the landscape. Some of the gigantic formations appear precarious and vulnerable and give the impression that they could collapse at any moment. In the early evening sun, the Valley of Fire is like a Martian landscape, the red color of the rock being even brighter and more intense as the sky darkens dramatically, the clouds hanging darkly and mysteriously over the fire-like mountains. An exciting climax to this blazing spectacle of nature.

KRETA (Crete) Greece

Crete is an island of light, the ‘cradle of Zeus’, with sun-drenched coastlines, picturesque villages and majestic mountains. No wonder that even the gods felt comfortable in this wonderful region of Greece. Heraklion is the capital of the largest and most southerly Greek islands, on which a highly developed culture has existed for 4000 years. The Venetians built massive fortresses to defend the island against the Turks. The Gortys Ruins are reminders of the moving history of an old town that was prosperous in the 5th century BC, when Gortys became the most powerful town of the Messara Plain. Throughout the olive groves between the hills, can be found the scattered remnants of its past cultural riches. With its beautiful sandy beaches, Matala is a popular coastal resort to which many come simply to experience the glorious sunsets, in addition to the rich archaeological discoveries of the Phaistos Palace. Agia Galini is a quiet fishing village that, during the summer months, is a lively bathing resort on Crete’s south coast. However, it has managed to maintain its original atmosphere with fishing boats in the harbor and crystal clear water lapping the shoreline, plus the allure of its taverns and restaurants. The precipitous rocky coastline of Agia Roumeli is also the starting point of the Samaria Gorge, that is regarded as the largest in Europe. Eighteen kilometres long and in places up to 150 kilometres wide, the gorge stretches from the Libyan Sea right up to the

Freedom to Soar – Southern Alberta Canada

This show is for anyone who’s ever wanted to fly. Losing the Beaver ultralight to the Columbia River in the last location brought the crew to the wild open spaces of Kananaskis in Southern Alberta – and straight into the heart of big sky country. They meet a group of ultralight pilots who share their passion for flight, and an ultralight designer who introduces them to their new plane, the EZ Flyer. On the road and in the skies, the exploration continues: checking out the local bike scene and soaring with gliders over lush green farmland to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. With the EZ in the air, the crew find their freedom to soar and the forecast holds nothing but blue skies ahead. Join a formation flight with 13 ultralights, hit the track with a group of mini-motorcycle riders, soar silently with the gliders of Cu Nim, put out the fire at Bragg Cree, take off with the EZ flyer for its first ever flight and experience the freedom of flight – any at age!
